Ask Stokely Discs for Thumbers and the 1999 Am Worlds

Dear Scott,

I began throwing a thumber in Ultimate back in 1979 and have had pretty good results in disc golf. Is there a particular disc that you recommend for thumbers? I am right handed.

Luis Mendez

Luis,

Right now I am using the XS for all of my upside-down shots. In the past I've used XLs, Cyclones, and X-Clones.

Dear Scott,

Scott was hit hard at the 1999 Am Worlds. After getting hit in the chest at close range in Kansas City at the 1999 Am Worlds, how did you continue your clinic? Did it leave a bruise?

Tom Pluister

Tom,

The funny thing about that is that it really did not hurt that bad. I've done a lot of sparring in tae kwon do and karate and it just felt like getting kicked really, really, really hard.

The part of the incident that was kind of cool was that the bruise changed colors five or six different times over the next month. The four inch bruise went all the way across my arm and halfway across my chest.

Recently I got to spend some time with the guy who hit me and gave him grief about it all day. He is a really cool guy from Washington, but while I was at this course I got hit with another disc. Golfing Kennewick is very fun.
